Where is itunes rented movies stored




















Two time limits are in place when it comes to Apple Movie movie rentals. The first determines how long you have to watch the movie after you make your purchase. You have 30 days from the day you rent to view it. The second starts once you start playing your rented movie for the first time. After pressing Play, you have 48 hours to finish watching it. You can watch the movie as many times as you like in that period.

After you watch a movie, or if its rental period expires, your device will automatically remove it from your devices. As long as you stay connected to the internet, you don't have to download the films you rent to watch them. They stream directly to your computer from Apple. But if you're going to travel, you can also download them and watch them anywhere.

You can't download movies to the Apple TV, they can only be streamed. We're going to assume you've found the movie you want to rent. In order to download it for offline viewing:. Select Rent and confirm payment. Select Rent and Watch Later. While still inside the Apple TV app, select Library. Selects Rentals. Select the download icon of a cloud with a downward facing arrow and it will begin the download to your device. Open iTunes, display the pull-down menu located in the upper-left corner of the window and click the Movies listing.

Click the Unwatched button. The next screen shows your rentals. Click the Cloud icon to download one to your computer. You can watch an iTunes rental on any device you own regardless of which one you used to make the purchase, but it can only be played on one of them at a time.

But you can't watch it on your iPad and Apple TV simultaneously. Actively scan device characteristics for identification. You, however, cannot move specific things to different folders, only the entire media folder. Unless things have changed, iTunes just uses QuickTime to play its media so could you not move the file elsewhere and then simply play it through QT which should be able to play the DRM'ed file?

I KNEW someone would have an answer!! Thanks guys. I read the link Ashwin provided and I will reread it at home and give those a try to to learn more about iTunes I'm currently on work PC. Vansmith, I asked about where iTunes movie rentals are stored because I wondered where it would place such a large temporary file I always get the HD version and then autodelete it after viewing. I am anal about fragmenting a hdd and I like to run a tight, clean, tidy computer.

I guess it is still the old Windows mentality even after 3 years on a Mac. I just thought I would kind of explain why I was asking to begin with. If you have an Apple TV , you can use it to rent items and play them on your home theater system.

Click in the search field in the top-right corner of the iTunes window and enter a word or phrase. The movie is downloaded to your iTunes library. A rented item expires 30 days after you rent it or 48 hours after you begin playing it, whichever comes first. Expired rentals are deleted automatically.
