Rx8 how much oil

Things have moved on since then, but mud sticks. I've had several rotaries, and something I recommend is a splash of synthetic 2 stroke oil in the fuel tank at every fill up which helps lubricate the tips.

Castrol Magnatec 5w30 semi-synthetic was fine on my RX8 , it is just the basic Ford oil used for Zetec. You need a fairly basic oil that burns cleanly. Fully synthetic oil is harder to breakdown and burn cleanly without residual that may coat up the catalytic converter. Good quality mineral oil that burns completely that's the key. I was at an engine re builders a couple of weeks ago and he showed me the effects of his customers running semi-synthetic.

The results of incomplete burning were a brown residue on the housing, the apex seals then start to hop across it and then chatter marks develop after that. End up with apex seal wear and low compression. I use mineral oil with a separate premix supply managed by a OMP controller. Over or under tightening the plug could damage the oil pan and lead to future leaks.

Jack the car up unitil the weight of the car is on the jack, and then remove the jack stand. After the jack stand is removed, lower the car using the jack, and then remove the jack from under the car. Using the socket wrench, extender, and oil filter wrench, loosen and remove the old oil filter. The oil filter may be stuck on very tight. Some may find it easier to use a gloved hand to begin to loosen the filter initially.

Place a small amount of oil on the o-ring and threads of the new filter make it easier to remove in the future. Put the dipstick back in the dipstick hole in the engine bay and push it all the way down.

Pull the dipstick back up and look at where the oil line is with respect to the markings on the dipstick. The low oil line is the lower raised line on the dipstick, and the high oil line is the higher raised line. You want the oil level to be in between the two.

Because the RX-8 engine is designed to burn oil during operation, I suggest you try to keep the oil in the upper third of the fill range to avoid driving with low oil in the future. If the oil level is too low, add more clean oil into the oil fill spout. If the oil level is too high it may be necessary to drain the oil and repeat the guide over again to avoid engine damage from excess engine oil. Cancel: I did not complete this guide. You can check the amount of oil in your car by using the dipstick.

You will want to wait a couple of minutes before you put the dipstick in to ensure the oil has settled. Then you will want to clean off the dipstick before you put it in, to ensure any excess oil on it comes off. The dipstick, in our car, will have two raised lines, the lower one is for low oil, and the higher one is for the high oil line. You can now add or let out more oil if needed. Once you are finished you can take the hood off of the hood prop bar and close it. The final step is to carefully dispose of the old oil.

In this oil change I used an old container of oil that was empty from previous uses. I carefully poured all of the old oil in the container. You can then get rid of this container by taking it to collection site. Some places such as Auto Zones will accept used motor oil for free. The total oil capacity of the RX-8 is around 7. The remainder is split up laying in the coolers, cooler lines and the engine itself. One may also ask, how much oil do I put in my rx8 oil change? Go over the manual to see the necessary amount of oil for your vehicle. Our Mazda requires 3. Black Halo Racing recognizes that the Mazda manual calls for a 5w, non-synthetic, oil to be used in the RX8.

So the question remains, can you use Red Line Synthetic Oil in a rotary engine? The oil burns completely. It doesn't leave behind carbon deposits. The RX-8 burns oil intentionally. On average, you should see about a quart of oil burned every 1, miles.
