Why does altair have a crossbow

Throwing knives replaced the crossbow which would have been out of place and hard to use anyway and there is no need to swim in the game, and it would have taken up valuable disk space the game barely fit on a disk as is with extra coding and animations. Behold the angry wizard putt-putt-putting away. I heard that originally he was supposed to have a crossbow, which would explain why he had it in the opening scene, after awhile in development they decided to removed the crossbow, but the developers didn't fix the cut scene, probably, because they already made a nice cut scene, which I'm sure they worked really hard on, but then they removed the crossbow from the game, but didn't feel like they should remake the whole cut scene, just to replace the crossbow with throwing knives.

As for the in-game reason, like someone said, he left in in a guard's chest after using it like an ax, although the person who said this might have been joking, but, correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't crossbows like the newest weapon out there? I'm pretty sure it would cost a bundle to get a new one, something Altair didn't feel like spending money on when he could just use knives, since they're easier to hide.

Roses are expensive, violets are too, they both die in a week, so I ain't getting one for you. Crossbows weren't exactly new at this point. But they were rare outside of the military, and even then they were impractical for open warfare.

They were best suited for sieges, where power ruled over speed. User Info: funkymonkey What I want to know is if crossbows were a way of protecting people then why do guards throw rocks at you to knock you off the sides of buildings, why not just get a bow and arrow or something and just shot Altair down. Seem alot easier. As for guards on the ground So they pick up the next best thing. A nice big rock. More topics from this board Comments RSS.

It's also in the CGI trailer at That's obviously not a short blade carrier. Okay I get it it's not his short blade holder but those pictures are pre ac1 so we was probably at the time going to have it but maybe not in ACR. That's not why. Maybe the real ones didn't, but there are a lot of differences from the real order of assassins in the games. Masyaf actually looks nothing like it does in real life, and don't even get me started on the leap of faith.
